Product Launch: Compact Disc Eraser

I've sold hundreds of units online, I'm spreading the word about this new product, and sales have been building steadily off of the product website www.DiscEraser.com . I've received many great feedbacks from customers. It's a neat little tool that wipes out personal and confidential data stored on CD-Rs and DVDRs. I know that CD shredders are too expensive for the average consumer to buy, so that is why the Compact Disc Eraser is better & affordable, for the consumer who may have just a few old CDRs that they would like to securely dispose of, or destroy, so that it won't end up in the wrong hands.

Identity theft is on the rise, so we should all take necessary precautions to help prevent it. Sure, you can break a CD-R in half, hammer it, sand it, melt it, or even microwave it, but these methods are potentially dangerous and time consuming, and creates a mess and release toxic fumes. Definitely something you don't want to do inside a home or office environment. By using the Compact Disc Eraser, you can quickly wipe out your unwanted CD-R in 2 seconds without creating any waste or cleaning up. Therefore you will increase productivity.

In addition, the Compact Disc Eraser promotes Recycling by leaving the resulting disc intact. Simply toss your erased disc into a plastics recycling bin - and you're helping out the environment! Normally, shredded or broken up fragments of CDs and DVDs are not accepted by the Recyclers (obviously difficult handling and sorting) so the material gets dumped as e-Waste in landfills. This is very bad for the environment, especially when you consider that over 500,000 lbs of discs become outdated every year. So please, support the cause, purchase a Compact Disc Eraser, guard yourself against data and identity theft, and Recycle your discs!

Wade Sun heads for US Nationals Table Tennis Tournament

Tomorrow I will be travelling to Las Vegas, where they hold the US Nationals Table Tennis Championships every year. I will play 4 events, U2100, U2200, U4200 Dbls, and Over 30 singles. Hopefully this year will go well, and place in some event. 2002 was when I won U2100 and U4200 Dbls with partner Sudish Iyer. We had alot of close calls. I didn't play doubles last year (end of year was too hectic for me, getting married, changing jobs/careers, and moving away to San Diego). Anyhow, a short vacation for me.
This will also be a business trip, as I will look into incorporating my start-up company as a Nevada LLC. I hear it on radio all the time, newspapers/PennySavers all advertise it. I guess it makes sense, to save on taxes. Anyhow I hope to get my products when I return from the trip and start selling them. Bring to stores on consignment. Contact distributors.
Hope my Disc Eraser becomes a hit! Today I fiddled with printing new business cards, but it didn't work too well with my printer. I have to order more, but I want to include background picture of the colored Disc Eraser. They will come in yellow and also in red, maybe also blue. Anyhow it has been a long road, I will probably need to write a book in retrospect so people can see what kind of work it takes to invent/patent/prototype/manufacture/market successfully. Looking back gives me momentum to go forward since I've already come a long way by myself. Ain't afraid of the unknown, since I am resourceful and the internet is a big help of information. It'll be interesting to see how next year unfolds...how far will Disc Eraser go? The best way to destroy a CD. Maybe attend some trade shows. Comdex doesn't meet in Las Vegas this year, or else I could wrap it into the trip too! How'se that for efficiency? Hehe...

Wade Sun starts SunZag Creative Products

Here am I, starting a business for the first time, bringing a new product to market. As a former full-time engineer, I now appreciate the freedom and the satisfaction that comes from being my own boss...truth is, my grandpa had his own business, same with my father, and now, me. It's fun to be able to develop my own ideas and inventions, tinker around and find new and convenient ways to solve problems. It takes years to build up a business from the ground up, but the first year is just about over and I'm about to launch my first product: A convenient solution to permanently destroy CDs and DVDs without breaking or shredding. Smaller and quicker than CD shredders and other devices. The most practical way to destroy CDs. To recap the year, I finished prototyping the final version of my invention and did more market research. I have gotten my company website www.SunZag.com, product website www.DiscEraser.com, and found a capable manufacturer for my new invention. Applied for trademark, Disc Eraser TM. Studied up on marketing and business, entrepreneur, etc... it's going to be a challenge but I have people to help. It's all about faith and believing in myself, my product, and determination. Don't let people discourage me, especially those who don't know anything about my industry or my product or assume they know. My original plan was to manufacture and sell my Disc Eraser on my own, as a company, rather than license it to another company and collect royalties. But it seems like most 'expert' inventors and industry people recommended me to license it exclusively to a company and collect royalties. I've tried this route, spent over 6 months...found out that you really do limit yourself when you give your rights to someone else to manufacture and sell it. They make all the money, and give you very small percentage in return. I probably would be lucky to recover my patenting expenses on licensing, but it's not going to be enough to make a living off of. Duh! Many people think just get some money, a little money is better than no money at all, so just license it... and move on to your next invention. Well, I believe all you need is one good invention. Push it all the way through, and you will be successful if you have a hit. You must focus on it. Focus on your best inventions, as long as the light remains green, continue with it.
Well, I like to do things myself, and it's reward/risk ratio is high. I'm a risk taker, life is all about risks, calculated risks. If I fail, so what, I've learned, I've tried.
Hope the market of consumers will like my product, so far most have had positive things about it. It is good to be able to destroy a CD or DVD, and there aren't alot of cheap or easy products out there that does so. Personal information, confidential data, etc... are stored on optical discs now. Recordable CD-R and DVD-R discs are the way to go, cost effective way to store data. So it makes sense to have a useful and affordable way to destroy it. And CD shredders are bulky, messy, too expensive, requires electricity, etc... so we'll see. Time to market is important. I had planned to get it out before this christmas shopping season, but it looks like it'll be late. The manufactureres were delayed a few months, due to a component availability, and now a couple weeks, due to packaging. This is the first production run, so it's not high volume yet. But I'm hoping to get large orders via wholesalers/stores/distributors. Need to seek those out. I'll be able to send them samples in a couple weeks or so.
